Editorial policy
Sources
We prefer primary sources: statutes as published by the Texas Legislature, companies' filings with the SEC, government datasets such as NOAA climate normals, and operators' own published terms and prices. Each guide ends with its sources, what kind of source each is, the date we checked it, and any important limitation.
Labels we use
- Statute (primary law): quoted or paraphrased from the official text.
- Company filing: what a company reports about its own business. It describes that company, not the whole market.
- Operator website (snapshot): advertised prices and terms on a given date. These change often.
- Search-result snippet: wording shown in search results when the page itself could not be retrieved. We say so where we rely on one.
- Our arithmetic / our inference: calculations and judgments we make from the sources, marked in the text.
What we don't do
- We don't publish reviews, star ratings or "we tested" claims. We haven't rented from or inspected the facilities mentioned.
- We don't invent figures. If no source gives a number (for example, a typical Dallas rent increase), we say so and let you enter your own.
- We don't give legal, insurance or financial advice. The lien-law guide summarizes the statute and recommends a Texas-licensed attorney for specific situations.
Review
Content is researched and written by the site's operators with software assistance. It is not reviewed by a lawyer or other licensed professional. Claims are checked against the cited source before publication.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows its published date and, after a substantive change, an updated date and an entry in its update history. Typo fixes don't change the date. We recheck prices quarterly, the operator annual report when a new one is filed, and the lien-law guide after each Texas legislative session.
